Constantinos “Danny” Filippidis, a firefighter, was reported missing on February 7th of this year during an annual ski trip to Whiteface Mountain with some of his colleagues.
The Search ended this week when, somehow, Filippidis turned up in Sacramento, CA — nearly 2,500 miles away. “At this point, we want to assist Danny in getting back the last six days of his life,” said New York State Police Maj. John Tibbitts.
That’s right, he has no idea what happened or how he ended up in California.
President of the Toronto Professional Firefighters’ Association, Frank Ramagnano, stated to reporters during a news conference that Filippidis appeared to be “confused and was unable to give direct answers.”
“He had phoned (his wife) and called her by a nickname. She quickly recognized the voice and that it was him,” Ramagnano said. “Then they lost contact and he contacted her again and they kept him on the phone and asked him to call 911 to get him help as soon as possible.”
Filippidis told investigators that he doesn’t remember much but believes he must have suffered a head injury, rode in a “big rig-style truck” and slept “a lot,” Sgt. Shaun Hampton of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department told the Post-Standard of Syracuse.
He eventually purchased an iPhone (that seems weird, sorry lol) to call his wife. He then asked deputies that a truck had dropped him off in downtown Sacramento… where he got a haircut, according to Hampton.
Law enforcement in the area have distributed photos of Filippidis, hoping to help him piece together what happened.
“He wants to find out where he was as badly as we want to find out where he was,” Tibbitts said.
Maybe it’s the head injury but buying an iPhone… why not a burner phone? Something cheap that’ll work? Maybe it’s the head injury. I’m going to keep pace with this story as I want to know what information, if any, gets revealed.
