Andrew McCabe, once the FBI’s No. 2, now insists he has no knowledge of former Director James Comey ever authorizing leaks to the media. He clarified that in his tenure he never witnessed any such directive.
McCabe stated he did not request Comey’s approval for disclosures, explaining that only he and Comey held independent authority to make such decisions at the time. He also questioned the clarity of the charges against Comey, calling the evidence in the indictment “far from clear.”
Comey has been indicted for allegedly making false statements to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding. He maintains his innocence and is slated to be arraigned on October 9.
