House Speaker Kevin McCarthy expressed his concerns regarding the U.S. Secret Service’s decision to close its investigation into the discovery of cocaine at the White House on July 2. McCarthy claimed that President Biden’s inner circle consistently receives favorable treatment and disparate handling of such incidents. According to the Secret Service, they were unable to identify any persons of interest due to a lack of evidence.
McCarthy highlighted the discovery of marijuana twice within the White House in 2022, which the Secret Service disclosed to members of Congress. While marijuana is legal in the District of Columbia, it remains prohibited on federal property. McCarthy criticized the differential treatment received by the “Biden, Inc.” family, suggesting they are handled differently than others in similar situations.
The House Speaker noted that the cocaine discovery occurred in three different locations within the White House. He questioned the Secret Service’s inability to identify those responsible and expressed concern about potential undisclosed activities within the White House premises. McCarthy emphasized that important discussions and decisions take place in the building, and the lack of accountability raises further concerns.
McCarthy found it outrageous that illegal substances could be found in the White House, with the public’s interest in identifying the culprits seemingly brushed aside by the front-facing staff. He referred to a clip of White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dismissing a reporter’s question about a potential suspect as “incredibly irresponsible.”
Former President Donald Trump asserted that those investigating the incident know the identity of the individual responsible for leaving the cocaine but are refusing to disclose the information.
McCarthy drew parallels to previous controversies involving the Bidens and their associates, such as the handling of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal. He claimed that the Biden family received special treatment and cited instances where they allegedly utilized government officials to discredit certain revelations.
The House Speaker also mentioned the Internal Revenue Service’s handling of allegations against Hunter Biden for violating federal tax laws and engaging in untaxed foreign business dealings. McCarthy suggested that the statute of limitations intentionally expired in this case, implying preferential treatment for the Bidens compared to average citizens.
In conclusion, McCarthy expressed frustration with what he perceived as a two-tiered system of justice, where the Bidens seemingly receive special treatment, including the involvement of government agencies and committees to protect their interests.
