In a recent discussion with Glenn Beck, Megyn Kelly, a well-known podcast host and former anchor at Fox News, shared her observations on former President Donald Trump’s mental acuity, suggesting a noticeable decline since his 2016 campaign.

Kelly, speaking on Beck’s platform, remarked on the 77-year-old Trump’s evident aging, pointing out several instances where Trump appeared to be less mentally sharp than in previous years. She specifically mentioned moments where Trump seemingly confused President Joe Biden with former President Barack Obama. Kelly expressed skepticism about Trump’s claim that these mix-ups were intentional, encouraging a review of the clips for clarity.

Additionally, Kelly highlighted other moments of apparent confusion by Trump, such as misidentifying countries and cities, and general lapses that have become more frequent. She noted that these are common signs of aging, emphasizing that despite Trump’s larger-than-life persona, he is not immune to the natural effects of aging.

This observation aligns with a comment made by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who used the phrase “Father Time spares no one,” in reference to aging. Kelly pointed out that in a hypothetical match-up between Trump and Biden, questions of fitness and capability are inevitable. She questioned whether it was feasible to consider Trump as mentally vibrant and sharp as he was in 2016, amidst these growing concerns.

The discussion gained traction among Trump’s primary opponents, especially DeSantis, who circulated clips of Kelly’s comments as part of a strategy to highlight Trump’s age-related challenges. DeSantis’ team has been vocal about the inevitability of aging, using the phrase “Father Time is undefeated” in their political rhetoric.

Kelly’s comments carry additional weight due to her personal history with Trump, dating back to the 2016 presidential election. During that time, Trump had famously criticized Kelly for her tough questioning, making controversial remarks about her.

Trump, on his part, has addressed the instances where he confused Biden with Obama, claiming these were sarcastic remarks meant to imply that others might be significantly influencing Biden’s presidency. In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized DeSantis and his campaign, along with the Democrats’ disinformation strategies, for misinterpreting his comments as signs of cognitive impairment.
