We all know Mel Gibson. We love his movies, and overall he seems like a good person. No one is without mistakes in their past, not even the famed Mel Gibson.
He went through the motions and with a little help from his friends and his faith he’s come out on top. He’s also been known to help his Hollywood peers from time to time.
Just like Gibson, Robert Downey Jr is a guy who had to find his way out of the Hollywood swamp and back into some normalcy — something he heavily attributes to Mel Gibson’s intervention.
So when Mel Gibson speaks about what’s taking place in Hollywood, you might want to listen.
It should be noted that he’s publicly coming out and speaking about this. Either he’s not as shady as the Weinstein’s and Spacey’s of Hollywood or (perhaps and) he’s made amends to the wrongdoings of his past. Either way, listen up!
As reported by Jamie Grierson for The Guardian:
Mel Gibson has spoken out about the sexual harassment scandal in Hollywood, saying the wave of accusations against Harvey Weinstein have been “painful” but will lead to change in the industry.
The actor and Oscar-winning director, who has faced repeated damaging allegations of racist and misogynistic behavior, said: “Things got shaken up a little bit and there is a lot of light being thrown into places where there were shadows and that is kind of healthy. It’s painful, but I think pain is a precursor to change.”
His latest comments come after dozens of women alleged they had been sexually harassed or assaulted by Weinstein. Weinstein’s spokesperson said: “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied.”
They also come just days after the Old Vic theatre revealed that 20 men had come forward to claim they were harassed by House of Cards star Kevin Spacey when he was its artistic director. Spacey was also accused of making unwelcome sexual advances towards actor Anthony Rapp when he was only 14 years old. Spacey, who was 26 at the time, said he did not remember the incident but if it did happen it was likely “deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour” and said he was sincerely apologetic.
