First Lady Melania Trump welcomed the official White House Christmas tree on Monday, signaling the beginning of this year’s holiday preparations at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The towering 18.5-foot white fir, grown at Korson’s Tree Farms in Michigan, arrived in traditional fashion atop a horse-drawn carriage led by two Clydesdales, drawing a crowd of photographers and staff to the North Portico.

Dressed in a winter-white coat paired with deep red gloves, the First Lady greeted the tree farmers, posed for photos and thanked the delivery team for their work. She described the tree as “beautiful” and said decorating would begin immediately as the White House transitions into full holiday mode.

The tree will take its place in the iconic Blue Room, where each First Lady chooses a theme and design that sets the tone for the season’s décor. This year’s theme has not yet been revealed, but Mrs. Trump said the team has been planning for weeks and intends to create an elegant atmosphere throughout the residence.

The White House Christmas tree tradition dates back more than a century, and the arrival of the tree typically marks the ceremonial start of holiday festivities. Staff, volunteers and designers will now work around the clock to decorate dozens of rooms and hallways with lights, garlands, ornaments and displays before the official public unveiling.

The First Lady’s appearance also drew attention for its fashion, with observers noting her bold color contrast and confident seasonal styling. As final preparations move forward, the White House is expected to release more details about this year’s holiday events in the coming days.
