Mexico’s President Blames Unlikely Target For Fentanyl Crisis

The Mexican president blamed “a lack of compassion” in American households when questioned about the fatal fentanyl issue in the United States.

There were 70,000 drug overdose deaths in the United States in 2010. Mexicali’s new president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, blamed the fall in property prices.

There is a lack of affection, fraternity, hugs, and embraces,” López Obrador reportedly told the AP. Government funding for research is essential for this reason.

Mexicali’s president has stated that his country does neither produce nor utilize fentanyl. However, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) claims that “transnational criminal gangs in Mexico are rapidly producing wholesale quantities of illegal fentanyl pills and transporting them into the U.S.” According to the DEA, Sinaloa, and New Generation Jalisco are the two most prominent drug trafficking organizations bringing fentanyl into the United States from Mexico.

Agents from Customs and Border Protection seized 700,000 fentanyl pills in December from a train traveling from Mexico to Arizona. A total of 50,6 million fentanyl pills and 10,000 pounds of fentanyl powder were seized by the DEA in 2016.

While Republicans in Congress urged that the U.S. military takes on Mexico’s powerful drug gangs, López Obrador turned emphasis away from himself and onto the United States. This past week, four Americans were kidnapped by a drug gang in Mexico. Finally, we located two of their bodies. This sparked a passionate discussion amongst scholars.

López Obrador has recently said, “Starting today, we are going to start an information campaign (aimed at) Mexicans who live and work in the United States and all Hispanics to tell them what we are doing in Mexico and how this plan from the Republicans is not only irresponsible but also an attack on the people of Mexico.”

According to what he said, they just won’t accept us as we are. We’ll make it obvious to them why they shouldn’t vote for it unless they abandon their intentions to exploit Mexico for dishonest political, campaigning, and publicity purposes: it’s interventionist; it’s harsh; it’s hypocritical; and it’s corrupt.
