At a parking lot in a Detroit suburb in the year 2020, a heated fight broke out after a suspect accidentally bumped into a young woman.
Police in Michigan have announced that charges will not be filed against a white couple who were involved in an incident in 2020 in which one of them pointed a pistol at a black lady and her adolescent daughter outside of a restaurant.
Eric Wuestenberg, 44, and Jillian Wuestenberg, 34, were scheduled to stand trial on Monday. When the claimed victims failed to appear in court to testify in defense of the defendant, Judge Mary Ellen Brennan of Oakland County dropped the charges.
A felony assault accusation was brought against both of them. According to reports from Fox Detroit, the event took place in the Orion Township Chipotle parking lot in July 2020.
Jillian Wuestenberg allegedly bumped into the girl, who was 15 at the time, as they entered the restaurant, setting off the argument. A black woman named Takelia Hill informed the Detroit Free Press that her daughter had requested an apology from Wuestenberg.
The argument continued to heat up to the point that a weapon was brandished.
Yeah, this is America, Hill concluded later on Facebook. I can honestly say, “Never in my entire life have I had a gun taken out on me. I’ve never been this frightened or felt so powerless in all my years.
A video of the incident shows the lady shouting at the mother to “Back the f—k up” while pointing a weapon at her. According to Jillian Wuestenberg, she felt in danger.
I had a barrier behind me and they were blocking the door to the car, she was quoted as saying in the news article. I couldn’t get out of there; there was nowhere to go. I was cornered, shouted at, labeled a racist and an idiot, and generally treated like an outcast.
To assist his wife, Eric Wuestenberg stated that he exited the vehicle. At least one of the ladies was pounding on the car as they sought to escape, and the automated braking system abruptly halted, he claimed.
“At that moment I thought we’re not going home tonight, we’re not going to see another day,” Jillian Wuestenberg said of her decision to pull her gun in self-defense.
Following the viral footage of their interaction, both individuals lost their employment and were subjected to countless death threats.
