Michigan Democrat With Coronavirus Credits Trump With Saving Her Life: ‘I Do Thank Him For That’

A Michigan state lawmaker from the Democratic party had a severe case of coronavirus and she thought she was going to die. She had heard President Trump talk about the great results doctors were seeing from the use of hydroxychloroquine and after discussing it with her doctor, she decided to try for it since she had nothing to lose. Her recovery was quick and complete.

At a time when Democrats are trying to shape the national discussion that the virus is Trump’s fault and that hydroxychloroquine is ineffective and dangerous, Rep. Karen Whitsett (Detroit) blows that narrative out of the water. Whitsett was very lucky. Just a week before Michigan Gov Gretchen “Half” Whitmer threatened to throw doctors into jail if they tried prescribing hydroxychloroquine.

She later begged President Trump once she realized that she and not Trump would be held responsible for the deaths arising from not being treated with the malaria drug. A week earlier and Whitsett would have been dead. She thanked President Trump and gave him the credit for saving her life.

    From The Daily Wire

Rep. Karen Whitsett (Detroit) “said she started taking hydroxychloroquine on March 31, prescribed by her doctor, after both she and her husband sought treatment for a range of symptoms on March 18,” The Detroit Free Press reported. “‘It was less than two hours’ before she started to feel relief, said Whitsett, who had experienced shortness of breath, swollen lymph nodes, and what felt like a sinus infection.”

Whitsett said that she had taken the drug before for a separate medical issue but would not have thought to ask her doctor about it unless Trump had been repeatedly talking about it.

“It has a lot to do with the president … bringing it up,” Whitsett said. “He is the only person who has the power to make it a priority.”

When The Detroit Free Press asked her if she thought that Trump may have saved her life, she responded, “Yes, I do. I do thank him for that.”

Congratulations to State Representative Karen Whitsett of Michigan. So glad you are getting better! https://t.co/v6z46rUDtg
