Michigan State Board of Canvassers approved language to be used for the recall of Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer. They will now have 60 days to get just over 1 million signatures that would automatically trigger a recall election. If no one gets 50% of the votes, there will be a runoff between the top two candidates. The last governor to fall in a recall election was Gray Davis of California. That is unusual because California usually reelects a failed governor when they are a Democrat.

The language in a petition to recall Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for the signing of nine of her executive orders during the COVID-19 pandemic has been approved by the Michigan Board of State Canvassers.
Albion resident Chad Baase, 39, was successful in his third attempt at coming up with “clear and factual” language to move forward with the recall petition process. He and his group — the Committee to Recall Governor Gretchen Whitmer — must come up with more than 1 million signatures from registered voters in 60 days or less to trigger a recall election.
“She didn’t put through effective measures with COVID to ensure businesses didn’t have to close their doors,” Baase said. “Some places couldn’t social distance under the federal guidelines, but many businesses could have stayed open with safety guidelines in place and were forced out of work.
“You can’t take away someone’s income and say you’re eligible for pandemic unemployment but then you can’t speak with anyone. I’m still waiting on my unemployment. They owe me 10 weeks.”
Whitmer has created a lot of enemies since she has become governor and she keeps adding more every single day. First there was her inane lock down orders that she keeps extending and then there was the war she declared on a 77 year old barber, Karl Manke. And just recently her comments that the police in Lansing would have shot the rioters down if they had been Black.
Previously she was considered the frontrunner to be Joe Biden’s running mate, but that has vanished in the haze. Biden probably realizes she would be a detriment to him winning Michigan in November.
