Javier Milei, the newly elected President of Argentina and a staunch conservative, made a significant diplomatic move immediately upon his arrival in Israel. He officially declared his intention to relocate the Argentinian Embassy to Jerusalem, marking a historic gesture of solidarity with Israel. This announcement was made right after Milei’s plane touched down, signaling the importance of this action in his foreign policy agenda.

Milei’s decision was warmly received by Israeli officials, with Foreign Minister Israel Katz and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally welcoming him and expressing their gratitude. Katz praised Milei as a person of principle, committed to the truth and supportive of Israel’s right to defend itself. Netanyahu echoed this sentiment, welcoming Milei as a dear friend of Israel.

Accompanied by Argentina’s Foreign Minister Diana Mondino and other key figures, including Rabbi Axel Wahnish, Milei’s choice for Argentina’s Ambassador to Israel, the visit underscores the deepening ties between the two nations. Prior to his political success, Milei demonstrated his respect for Jewish heritage, visiting the grave of Chabad-Lubavitch leader Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson and seeking blessings from influential rabbis.

Argentina, home to the largest Jewish community in South America, has shown through Milei’s actions a commitment to strengthening its alliance with Israel. Milei’s stance is a clear message of support for Israel and a reflection of his belief in the resilience and divine protection of the Jewish people. His visit and the embassy move announcement are seen as a testament to Argentina’s foreign policy direction under his leadership, emphasizing the strategic partnership with Israel and the United States.
