Minneapolis City Council Hire Private Security for Themselves, $4,500 Per Day, After Voting to Defund Police Department

You may not know a liberal by what they look like, but you certainly can tell from what they act like. In Minneapolis, Minnesota the city council has taken a vote to do away with the police department. That in itself is bad enough, but now they have the taxpayers forking out $4,500 a day to pay for private security for three of it’s members. Only a Democratic liberal would look at this and think it’s not corrupt.

In Minneapolis, they don’t want you owning a gun and forcing to depend on the police for protection. Now, they want to take away your police protection also, leaving you at the mercy of criminals. And guess what? The city won’t pay for private security to guard your life. That’s reserved for the elitists.

Instead of hiring private security why don’t they do the same to protect themselves as they expect you to do when you are in danger, travel with social workers. Do they really deserve more security than you do?

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) – The City of Minneapolis is spending $4,500 a day for private security for three council members who have received threats following the police killing of George Floyd, FOX 9 has learned.

A city spokesperson said the private security details have cost the city $63,000 over the past three weeks.

The three council members who have the security detail – Andrea Jenkins (Ward 8), and Phillipe Cunningham (Ward 4), and Alondra Cano (Ward 9)– have been outspoken proponents of defunding the Minneapolis Police Department.

Councilmember Phillipe Cunningham declined to discuss the security measures.

“I don’t feel comfortable publicly discussing the death threats against me or the level of security I currently have protecting me from those threats,” said Cunningham in a text message.

Cunningham added that the security is temporary.

Councilmember Andrea Jenkins said she has been asking for security since she was sworn in.  She said current threats have come in the form of emails, letters, and posts to social media.

“My concern is the large number of white nationalist(s) in our city and other threatening communications I’ve been receiving,” wrote Jenkins in an email.
