Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) appeared to experience another moment of pause during a press conference in Kentucky on Wednesday, reminiscent of a similar incident that occurred about a month earlier on Capitol Hill.
A video clip shared on X from NBC affiliate WLWT showed the 81-year-old McConnell momentarily struggling to respond to a question about his thoughts on running for re-election in 2026.
After a brief pause, he began to say, “That’s uh…” before falling silent for a few moments. An aide rushed to his side and asked if he had heard the question.
The video depicts McConnell responding in a subdued voice, seeming to say “yes,” but he did not elaborate further and remained motionless.
Apologizing for the interruption, the aide stated, “Alright, I’m sorry y’all, we’re going to need a minute,” and then called for another aide. Both aides stood by McConnell for a short while, and he eventually indicated that he was ready to continue.
