In a bold move preceding his Friday night bout against Curtis Millender, Joel Bauman, also known as King Bau in the MMA realm, expressed his views on the legal challenges faced by former President Donald Trump.
Trump’s recent legal entanglements, encompassing allegations of hush money payments, theft of confidential White House materials, and purported attempts to overturn the 2020 election, have thrust him into the public eye. Bauman, however, hinted at a perception that prosecutors may be neglecting more pressing matters.
Stepping into the ring on Friday, Bauman sported a black shirt featuring the statement, “Trump was indicted before anyone on [Jeffrey] Epstein’s client list.” The word “Epstein” stood out in red, while the remainder of the text remained in white.
The inclusion of Jeffrey Epstein, a businessman and convicted sex offender, adds nuance and complexity to Bauman’s declaration. Speculation surrounds Epstein’s private jet, often dubbed “The Lolita Express,” which reportedly transported notable figures, including actors, politicians, and public personalities. Republican Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn is actively advocating for the Senate Judiciary Committee to subpoena Epstein’s flight records, aiming to identify potential victims of alleged sex trafficking.
In August 2019, Epstein passed away in prison while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, leaving a legacy of controversy. His accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, has been convicted of sex trafficking of a minor and is serving a 20-year sentence at FCI Tallahassee.
Despite Bauman’s vocal stance, he faced defeat in a split decision against Curtis Millender, bringing his professional record to 8-4. As the MMA community buzzes with discussions about the intense showdown, Bauman’s political statement injects a unique perspective into the narrative surrounding the fight, sparking conversations about the intersection of sports and socio-political ideologies.
