A woman who is paralyzed from the waist down is believed to have strangled her three children to death before attempting suicide by jumping over the top of their home.

On January 24 in their Duxbury, Massachusetts, basement, 32-year-old Lindsay Clancy is suspected of murdering her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 7 months old.

Before the deaths, she had sought medical attention for postpartum depression. She slashed her wrists after the killings and leaped from the second story window.

Over the past four months, Lindsay has received extensive medical treatment. While she awaits the grand jury’s decision on whether or not to charge her with murder, she has been transferred to a new hospital.

According to the Boston Globe, her doctor has now confirmed that she will never walk again due to the severity of her injuries.

More than $1 million has been donated to the GoFundMe campaign she started in January in memory of her late husband, Patrick Clancy. But her attorney has said that “not one cent” of this money is going toward her defense.

Clancy apologized to his wife in front of their children after the incident in January.

According to her attorney, Lindsay’s parents have already paid for all of her legal fees.

She will be crippled “forever” from the waist down because she leaped out the window, her lawyer Kevin J. Reddington said. He provided evidence from his doctor interviews and medical records.

The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health is supervising her care at Tewksbury Hospital. This is due to the fact that her physicians have recommended continuous medical and psychological treatment for her.

It is unclear whether or not a jury has been selected, but Lindsay faces life in prison if she is found guilty of murder.

Her attorney is pleading for reduced fees on the grounds that she will require permanent round-the-clock medical attention.

She allegedly requested her husband Patrick to pick up takeout so that she could kill her kids, according to the office of District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.

The matter will come back before the judge in July.

According to Reddinton, a psychology professor at Case Western Reserve University and a counselor will evaluate Lindsay’s mental health because he is a national specialist on parents who kill their children.

And Lindsay’s legal team is mulling over whether or not to use her diminished cognitive abilities as an excuse.

On February 7, while she was still in the hospital, she was taken there and hauled before a judge. She is currently facing first-degree murder charges in Plymouth District Court, to which she has pled not guilty.
