When Robert Mueller headed the FBI and James Comey a trusted aide, they conspired to destroy the life of an innocent man. The man, Steven Hatfill. He was a virologist, with no experience with anthrax.
Which is a bacteria and can be fatal even if you are experienced with it. Mueller and Comey had zero evidence Hatfill was the guilty party, but they charged ahead anyway. Even after receiving a tip the man they wanted was Bruce Edwards Ivins in 2002. As it turned out, Ivins was the guilty one. But he was never questioned because Mueller and Comey were convinced Hatfill was their man. Sadly, despite a total lack of evidence.
“So what evidence did the FBI have against Hatfill? There was none, so the agency did a Hail Mary, importing two bloodhounds from California whose handlers claimed could sniff the scent of the killer on the anthrax-tainted letters,” journalist Cannon stated.
That isn’t slang. Actual bloodhounds were brought in to “solve” the crime, based on the vague promises of a dog handler who had already been debunked in several other cases.
“These dogs were shown to Hatfill, who promptly petted them,” explained Cannon. “When the dogs responded favorably, their handlers told the FBI that they’d ‘alerted’ on Hatfill and that he must be the killer.”
It is on this flimsy “evidence” that the FBI essentially destroyed the life of an innocent man.
Mueller talked with Hatfill’s boss getting him fired. Then Mueller leaked false information to the press. From then on Hatfill was a persona non grata wherever he went. Finally, he was cleared three years after Ivins committed suicide, rather than get caught. The US taxpayers had to pay through the nose for the corrupt duo in charge of the investigation.
