A dog owner on Manhattan’s Upper East Side has infuriated neighbors by flagrantly refusing to pick up after her pet—including once ignoring the mess plopped in the middle of a crosswalk. Witnesses say she even brushed off offers of a bag and reacted angrily when called out.
In response, someone took matters into their own hands. Posters bearing her photo—complete with a scowling expression and designer bag—appeared along East End Avenue between 79th and 88th Streets. The message? A blunt call-out: she lets her dog poop in public and walks away.
The makeshift campaign has divided opinions. Many residents praised the bold move as a stand for public cleanliness and common decency. One neighbor cheered, “Finally someone is doing something about it.” Another, though, doubted it would change her habits.
Despite a city rule that fines irresponsible owners up to $250, enforcement is patchy at best. Meanwhile, residents have taken to Reddit to vent their frustration, showing screenshots of the posters and sharing their own run-ins with careless pet owners.
