Republican MPs have been labeled “losers” by former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California for their work on anti-transgender legislation.
The Advocate, an LGBT news website, released a “edited and condensed version” of the author’s conversation with Pelosi on Monday. She writes, “so many members of our community are scared right now because of all the hateful legislation in state houses all over the country and all the dangerous rhetoric by Republicans.”
Allow me to elaborate if given the chance. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said of gun rights and abortion rights proponents, “I don’t like those people.”Her assessment of them was succinctly stated: “Losers, that’s what they are.”
It is impossible to defeat us using merely weapons. Unfortunately, the public is not on our side, so we have not been able to pass the legislation we need despite all of these tragic deaths. Pelosi, when asked what the people wanted, said, “People have had enough.”The concerns of today’s youth are growing. More and more people are unhappy with the status quo. Since the last midterm election, women’s reproductive rights have taken yet another setback.
“So, what do they have?” I finally inquired. I figured it was time to find out. The time felt ideal to start looking into it. Pelosi’s question was rhetorical, of course. As a result, she elaborated, “Now they’re turning to the trans and drag communities because they think that’s important.” Should we be worried about the drag issue? There’s no chance they’ll be successful.
To make it more difficult for transgender adolescents to get the medical treatment they need, certain states, headed by Republicans, have passed legislation restricting access to such services. Some people claim the limits hurt “gender-affirming” healthcare, while others say they put youngsters in risk. Several states, led by Republicans, have passed laws that make it more difficult for transgender people to participate in women’s sports and that limit the age at which people may attend drag performances.
A law that would ban transgender males from playing in leagues for girls and women has passed the House of Representatives. This bill has zero Democratic support. The Democrats’ control of the presidency and the Senate makes it highly unlikely that this restriction, which would only affect schools receiving government financing, would become law.
In an interview, the author found consensus with Pelosi, who has gained prominence because to her performances on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” in recent years, that the Republican’s actions are “frightening.”
Disturbing in the extreme. To restate, hatred is a very complex idea. The minority leader and former whip in the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, said it best when she stated, “When we tried to pass hate crimes laws a few years ago, when we had the majority, we couldn’t get the bills to the floor so that we could vote on them there.”
If the word “trans” were removed from the request, it may be granted in 60 seconds. It would appear that they informed Pelosi. I made it quite obvious that the bill couldn’t pass without the word “trans” in it. That pretty much sums up everything that’s going on in the globe right now. Regardless of how recently that was, even if it were 2009, that period has passed and we are now in the present. We need just make our voices heard and make it very clear what it is that we desire.
