A 35-year-old skydiving instructor was killed in a sad accident outside of Nashville when he apparently separated from his tandem rig and fell without a parachute.
According to authorities, during a jump close to Ashland City Highway, the instructor and a student separated in midair. The pupil escaped after being pulled from a tree using an open parachute, while the instructor’s body was later discovered by emergency personnel in a forested area. The student’s condition was stable when they were brought to the hospital.
The plane returned to John C. Tune Airport without issue, and other skydivers on the same flight made a safe landing. The Federal Aviation Administration and local law enforcement are investigating the incident.
