Members of the Minnesota National Guard were seen handing out coffee, donuts, and snacks to demonstrators opposing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during protests in St. Paul, a gesture that drew widespread attention as tensions remain high over federal immigration actions.

The outreach took place near a federal building where protesters had gathered to voice opposition to ICE operations. Guardsmen, wearing high-visibility gear, distributed refreshments from a vehicle as crowds remained peaceful during the demonstration.

Officials described the action as an effort to maintain calm and promote safety during large public gatherings. National Guard members have been deployed in the area to support local law enforcement and help manage protests that erupted following recent federal enforcement incidents in Minnesota.

The move came amid ongoing demonstrations across the state, with the Guard tasked with balancing public safety responsibilities while avoiding escalation. Authorities emphasized that the Guard’s role is to assist with crowd control and ensure demonstrations remain orderly, not to engage in enforcement activities.

The scene underscored the unusual dynamics surrounding the protests, as state forces worked to de-escalate tensions during a period of heightened political and public scrutiny over immigration enforcement in Minnesota.
