Dozens of demonstrators were taken into custody near the United Nations headquarters in Manhattan as protesters blocked traffic and chanted slogans such as “No Trump! No fascist USA!”
The crowd—estimated at over 150 people—also held signs reading “Reject Trump” and “Arrest Trump,” part of protests coinciding with President Trump’s speech at the UN General Assembly.
Separately, climate activists with Extinction Rebellion blocked one of the UN checkpoints, leading to more arrests. Anti-Israel rallies further added to the chaotic scene, with authorities deploying barricades to manage the crowd.
The NYPD processed most arrested demonstrators at headquarters while handling multiple incidents across the area, tying together political dissent, environmental protests, and international issues under a tense spotlight.
