Mulvaney gets paid to help spread the word about Nike.
As was already said, Nike wants to use transgender personality Dylan Mulvaney in future ads for women.
A person with the official Nike Instagram account just told their fans, “Be kind, be inclusive…” Help each other feel better.
Mulvaney, who identifies as a woman, danced in Nike women’s clothes in a paid social media video. This made many people angry, and they called for a boycott of Nike.
Several athletes, like Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies, have asked people not to buy Nike products.
Davies, who won silver at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, questioned Nike’s choice and called it a “step back” because many sports governing bodies have made separate categories for “biological women” to participate in.
It’s quite annoying. On GB News’ Tonight show, Davies told Dan Wootton this. With World Athletics and Swim England making sure that women’s sports are safe, we’ve made some progress, but now Nike has done this.
The ad seems to make fun of women who watch it. In the past, the phrase “run like a girl” was used as an insult when someone did something that was very unsportsmanlike and not very sporty. Only about 1% of funding money for sports in the US goes to women. This is a real kick in the teeth from Nike.
Nike said that it would remove any comments that were not “in the spirit of a diverse and inclusive community” because of the online feedback it got on Friday.
You are a big part of what makes your neighborhood so great. We welcome and value contributions that add to the conversation. Show compassion… Keep an open mind… Get each other going… Nike warned that “any comments or actions that violate this policy or do not support a welcoming and accepting community will be removed.”
Since Chloe Kelly, an English soccer player, wore Nike gear after getting a goal for England in the World Cup, the company’s general sales have been going up.
Davies had a problem with a shirt that Mulvaney wore in the ad. He said that the brand has a history of being unfair to other top athletes.
Dylan wants sports bras without any padding, even though it’s important for female players to have the right support. This makes no sense at all.
Nike was happy for a long time to be working with one of the best track champions in the world, Allyson Felix. Then, when Allyson got pregnant, she lost 70% of her money because she had a problem that only affected women. Women are now looked down upon, especially in the male-dominated world of sports.
Even Caitlyn Jenner has said she doesn’t like Mulvaney’s deal with Nike.
Mulvaney is well-known on social media, and he has also done stand-up comedy and been in plays. No one knows how much Mulvaney made from the boosted tweets.
