Nike, the athletic clothing company, has recently teamed up with the very controversial transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney to sell women’s gear, and the company’s sponsorship of a “Queer Youth Field Day” is the latest example of Nike’s involvement in Left-wing politics.
According to a marketing of the event by OUTMemphis, attendees must be either LGBTQ+ or a “ally” of the cause and between the ages of 13 and 25, as reported by The Daily Caller.
The group encouraged “all LGBTQ+ youth and allies aged 13-25” to enjoy a free day of activities, music, freebies, and pleasant weather. We’re going to have everything from bouncy castles and obstacle courses to face painting and tie-dye. Our DJ will be playing some of your favorite summer tunes, and we’ll have plenty of refreshments to keep you going all afternoon long.
In the beginning of this month, Nike faced backlash after it announced a partnership with LGBT activist and influencer Dylan Mulvaney, a male who identifies as a “girl.”
In a sponsored Nike Instagram photo, Mulvaney wore the brand new Zenvy leggings and an Alate sports bra and wrote, “Home for a moment and leaning into cozy workout wear life with [Nike Women]!” They’re really soft and comfy, making them great for working out or just wearing around the house. Hashtag your emotions, your Nike team, and your Nike partner.
Mulvaney, in a promotional film for the women’s clothing, executes high kicks in the grass to music.
Later, Nike appeared to reprimand those who had criticized the relationship because of the omission of women.
“You are a vital part of making your neighborhood a great place to live!” A remark by Nike that was posted to Instagram and then made permanent. Be kind, include everyone, and lift each other up; we value comments that add to the conversation.
“Hate speech, bullying, or other behaviors that are not in the spirit of a diverse and inclusive community will be deleted,” the remark said.
Nike’s interest in the “woke” community precedes their collaboration with Mulvaney. The sports apparel company announced their partnership with Colin Kaepernick, a kneeler during the national anthem, in 2018.
Kaepernick was featured in the first advertisement, which said, “Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything.”
In protest of what he saw as systemic discrimination of blacks in the United States, the former NFL quarterback famously took a knee during the national anthem. Kaepernick stated in 2016 that he would not “stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”
The athlete now says his white adoptive parents taught him “racism.”
