Nikki Haley, a Republican running for president in 2024, took a shot at Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) on Wednesday by telling Disney to move out of Florida and do business in South Carolina instead.
The invitation to Haley came soon after Disney sued DeSantis in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida for what the company called “a relentless campaign to use government power against Disney as retaliation for Disney expressing a political view that was unpopular with some State officials.”
“South Carolina was a state that didn’t like being awake. On Fox News, Haley said, “It still is.” “And if Disney wants to move its hundreds of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars to South Carolina, I’ll let them know I’d be happy to meet them there and introduce them to the governor and lawmakers who would welcome it.”
Haley also said that when she was governor of South Carolina, companies were her partners “because if you take care of your businesses, you take care of your economy, and your economy takes care of the people, and everyone wins.”
She went on, saying, “So that’s how we handled it.”
After a year of fighting, in which DeSantis, who might run for president as a Republican in 2024, tried to limit Disney’s power as Florida’s biggest employer, the media company sued DeSantis.
