Facing public outrage, the New York GOP has announced it will dissolve its Young Republicans chapter following revelations that members of the group participated in a private chat where Adolf Hitler was lauded.
The decision comes just days after screenshots circulated online showing participants praising Hitler and expressing antisemitic beliefs. State Republican leaders said the comments are “unacceptable and indefensible,” and that the group’s charter would be revoked immediately.
Some former Young Republican members issued statements denouncing the chat messages and calling for accountability. A few claimed they were shocked by what was said and promised to cooperate with any investigations.
While the move is aimed at distancing the party from the scandal, critics argue it may not go far enough—demanding full transparency, public naming of those involved, and stronger vetting of future youth leaders.
