A high school physics and robotics teacher in New York, Patrick Freivald, has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation after social media posts mocking the killing of Charlie Kirk. The teacher, employed in the Naples Central School District, used inflammatory language in Facebook posts shortly after Kirk was fatally shot.
Freivald’s posts described Kirk’s final moments in detail, criticized his political stances, and ended with the phrase “Good riddance to bad garbage.” District officials condemned the comments as inconsistent with the values expected of educators. The superintendent confirmed a formal investigation is underway and emphasized that the district must maintain respect and professionalism among staff.
The teacher’s remarks prompted outrage from parents and community members, who said they were deeply upset and felt the mockery of violence was especially inappropriate in a classroom setting. Freivald’s leave is in effect as the district reviews the circumstances and decides on potential disciplinary actions.
