A woman in the Bronx is lucky to be alive after a chilling attempted shooting left her inches from death. The 32-year-old victim was walking near West 183rd Street and Davidson Avenue in the University Heights area around 9 a.m. when a stranger approached from behind and opened fire.
The bullet narrowly missed her head by just a centimeter. Authorities say she instinctively turned her head at the last moment, an action that may have saved her life. Though not struck by the bullet, she fell during the incident and sustained a head injury.
The suspect, still at large, is described as approximately 6 feet tall, weighing around 200 pounds, and was last seen wearing all black, including a hooded jacket. Surveillance footage of the individual has been released as investigators continue to pursue leads.
The NYPD is treating the case as an attempted murder and is urging anyone with information to come forward as the search for the gunman intensifies.
