Residents of a condominium complex near Happy Valley, Oregon, were unnerved after hearing unexplained noises coming from beneath their home. A witness also reported seeing an unknown man near the building and glimpsed light burning inside the normally dark crawl space. When deputies arrived, they found the crawl space door damaged and locked—and power coursing through an extension cord snaking from the vents.Upon forcing entry, authorities discovered 40-year-old Beniamin Bucur living inside. The hidden space had been transformed into an improvised living area: a bed, string lights, televisions, electronics, chargers, and even a gaming controller were found plugged into the home’s power. A large water container and personal items indicated extended occupancy.Officials also uncovered a pipe containing methamphetamine residue among the belongings. Bucur was arrested and is facing charges including first-degree burglary and meth possession. His bail has been set at $75,000.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional insights or video evidence to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation.
