Following the unintentional release of 26-year-old Ty Anthony Sage, an accused murderer, due to a clerical error that violated a judge’s order denying bail, a manhunt is currently underway in Oregon.

Sage was detained in relation to a shooting incident in 2021 that claimed the life of 15-year-old Lowgunn Ivey and left two others wounded. Legal officials claim that, in spite of the court’s clear decision, his release documents improperly allowed posting bond.

Although referring to the occurrence as a “isolated incident,” the county sheriff admitted that the mistake damaged public confidence. According to the victim’s mother, the family now worries about their safety while Sage is free, calling the release a “monumental mistake.”

To find Sage and seize him again, authorities are working together across jurisdictions. The sheriff’s office has started an investigation to find out how the procedural error happened and stop such mistakes in the future.
