Gen. Don Bolduc, a Republican, had an assailant try to physically attack him before his debate with Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) on Wednesday, according to Breitbart News.
A spokesperson for Bolduc for the Senate named Kate Constantini claimed to Breitbart News that the General was physically assaulted by a member of the audience just outside the building just before the debate began.
Whether or if the person is a Hassan fan is unknown at this time.
Shortly after, the police arrived and took the suspect into custody.
“Before the debate began, someone in the throng assembled outside tried to assault the General and was promptly seized and detained,” Constantini said.
She expressed appreciation to the police officers who arrived quickly to the situation.
It’s time to cool down the political dialogue in our nation, she said, citing the General’s remarks from earlier in the evening.
