Parents Furious Over Adult Migrants At School Gyms, NYC Mayor Tells Parents To Deal With it

For the time being, according to New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D), frustrated parents will have to accept the fact that illegal immigrants and border crossers will continue to populate their children’s public schools.

According to Breitbart News, Adams has begun enforcing a program that converts the gyms of some public schools into temporary sanctuaries for migrants. What this implies is that while students are in class, hundreds of immigrants who crossed the border illegally or were brought into the country unlawfully could be living on school grounds.

On Tuesday, frustrated parents and students gathered outside a few of the schools where Adams has begun providing shelter and free meals to migrants. PS 188 in Coney Island is one example, as is PS 17 in Williamsburg.

As a parent, I don’t want to hear, “Our kids deserve to do well in school, but how can they do that when they have to worry about who they’re with?” There will be harm done to us. Another mother expressed her concern, saying, “Our teachers are also suffering because they can’t even help our kids.”

Adams released a statement in which he stated he didn’t care about the protests and that parents would have to adjust to having their children attend school among illegal aliens and recent border crossers.

We really don’t want to look here, so it’s good you asked. Taking such drastic action is something no one wants to do, Adams said to NY1 News.

Adams added in a subsequent statement that the influx of illegal immigrants and border crossers to the sanctuary city will have an impact on “every city service” for New Yorkers. However, he supported this course of action.

When considering the statute or agreement that was established, Adams said, “no one expected 4,200 people to come to the city in one week.” The city has been a sanctuary for illegal immigrants for more than 40 years.

More than sixty thousand border crossers and illegal immigrants have been bused to New York City since Republican Governor of Texas Greg Abbott began the practice in the spring of 2022. The price tag for New Yorkers is expected to hit $4 billion by the middle of 2019.
