A traveler on a recent flight from Bangkok, Thailand, to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, experienced discomfort when the passenger behind her placed his bare feet on her armrest. The incident occurred on a low-cost airline, and the passenger began to feel ill and “dizzy” due to the situation.
The passenger noticed a stench in the air and realized that the person in the window seat behind her had propped his bare feet up on her armrest. Uncomfortable with confronting the passenger directly, she decided to record the incident on her phone.
In the video, the passenger’s bare feet can be seen resting on her armrest. She also used a menthol nasal inhaler to try to alleviate the smell and discomfort.
The traveler attempted to signal her discomfort by shifting in her seat, but the passenger with his feet up didn’t notice. She then signaled a flight attendant, who asked the passenger to remove his feet from her armrest, which he eventually did.
The passenger found the situation unhygienic and wiped down the armrest. She emphasized the importance of proper flight etiquette and encouraged passengers to inform flight attendants when faced with similar situations.
Etiquette expert Jacqueline Whitmore commented on the incident, stating that the barefoot passenger’s actions were “extremely impolite.” She advised passengers to address such issues politely or alert flight attendants when necessary, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good manners while traveling.
