Pastor Jeff Hibbs, who was present at Utah Valley University during the “American Comeback Tour” event, offered a moving account of the moments surrounding Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
Hibbs said his brother was only 25 to 35 feet away from Kirk when everything changed—“standing together before the event started … everything looked great,” he recalled. Just a short time later, his brother called to tell him he heard gunfire, saw people screaming and running.
Hibbs urged those mourning to hold on to Kirk’s faith, saying this wasn’t the end of his story. He emphasized that Kirk had strong convictions and believed deeply in his purpose—which, for Hibbs, rendered him more than just a speaker, but someone who lived with mission.
At the same time, with vigils rising across the country for Kirk’s passing, Hibbs used the moment to call for unity, faith, and resolve among supporters, urging them not to give into despair but to carry forward what they believe Kirk stood for.
