A Kansas court dismissed three felony charges against Jackson Mahomes, the brother of Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, marking a significant legal breakthrough. In a Johnson County courtroom, the charges—which included felony aggravated sexual battery—were dismissed during a preliminary hearing. Mahomes is still charged with misdemeanor violence, though, and a trial may be necessary.

The claimed victim in the case declared her desire to assert her Fifth Amendment rights and not testify, leading to the decision to withdraw the criminal charges. Even if immunity was granted, prosecutors disclosed that the accused victim intended to tell the judge that her 2023 meeting with prominent social media influencer Mahomes was voluntary.

Despite the accused victim’s present behavior, Assistant District Attorney Megan Ahsens said they were ready to move forward with the case since victims frequently retract or become uncooperative for a variety of reasons. However, the claimed victim deliberately avoided appearing in court, making it difficult to serve subpoenas.

Brandon Davies, Mahomes’s lawyer, expressed confidence in his client’s innocence, saying they had always thought the truth will surface. He refrained from speaking further until the remaining minor charge was cleared.

According to reports, the person accused of battery in the felony case is not the same person who is accused of battery in the misdemeanor case. Mahomes had earlier entered a not guilty plea to the allegations.

Mahomes was looked at for a different incident that happened earlier in the year in which he was accused of pushing a waiter and forcing a kiss on the female proprietor of a restaurant in Overland Park. Aspen Vaughn, the proprietor of the eatery, said that Mahomes repeatedly gave her an abusive kiss and held her by the throat.

Jackson’s sister-in-law, Brittany Mahomes, spoke up for him in the face of criticism from the public, asking people to hold off on passing judgment because they don’t fully get his hardships.

Because of Jackson Mahomes’ well-known status and his relationship to well-known NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes, this case has attracted attention. The court cases and their resolutions are still being attentively monitored.
