The incident unfolded on a Saturday night when DeAnn Radley, in a frantic state, dialed 911 around 10 p.m. According to her account to the authorities, the tragedy occurred as she was digging through her purse for her keys, inadvertently triggering her loaded .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol. The discharge of the firearm led to a bullet passing through her purse and striking her daughter.
Despite immediate efforts to save the teenager, Dearria was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital from the injuries sustained from the single gunshot wound.
