The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is currently looking into the fatal mission of the Titan submersible run by OceanGate Expedition. On Saturday, Superintendent Kent Osmond of the RCMP said that investigators had been assembled to look into the issue and determine whether or not any federal, provincial, or criminal laws had been broken.

This news comes after the search for the missing OceanGate Titan submarine, which was taking five people on a tour of the Titanic disaster, turned up a debris field. The United States Coast Guard has confirmed that there was a fatal implosion of the submersible. The initial search and rescue operation, which the U.S. Coast Guard led, required a sizable international effort and probably cost a lot of money. Canadian authorities have also promised a probe by the Transportation Safety Board.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) will be in charge of investigating any deaths that occur at sea, but they will work with other organizations to find the missing people. Osmond reiterated that the RCMP is conducting preliminary procedures to determine whether a full criminal investigation should be launched in the future, but that there is currently no suspicion of criminal behavior.

British explorer Hamish Harding, Titanic specialist Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood were all killed in the implosion.

OceanGate Expeditions has been approached by Fox News Digital to provide a comment.
