On Tuesday, President Biden met with Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau and Mexican President López Obrador in Mexico City to discuss the escalating scandal over his improper handling of classified papers while serving as president.

President Biden then opened the floor to reporters on his standard approved list for questions after a series of remarks from North American leaders. The Associated Press asked him if he should have made public his apparent violation of the Presidential Records Act, given his political grandstanding on the topic as a line of attack against former President Trump.

When asked about discussing sensitive material, Biden said he was reading from a script.

Biden served as an adjunct lecturer at Penn for four years after leaving office as president. It all started, he said, when his attorneys “made up an office for me” for him in the Capitol building’s secure building while they were emptying his Penn office. The records were “discovered in a box in a closed cabinet or at least a closet,” he claimed.

Biden said that after inspecting the package, a plethora of secret documents was discovered. “That they were able to succeed is also worthy of praise. They phoned the National Archives and Records Administration as soon as they found the records so they could be delivered there. After hearing the discovery briefing, I was pretty aback to see that any government papers from the location had been transferred to the Archives, “Biden asserted something.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has said, “I don’t know what’s in the documents.” When pressed for details on the substance of the files in issue, he said, “I’ve- My counsel has not advised I query what they were.” I have given over the boxes, they have turned over the boxes to the Archives, and we are working totally with the review, which I believe will be done shortly and on which further detail will be provided at that time,” President Obama said in response to a question concerning the boxes.

Biden’s comments on Tuesday came roughly 24 hours after it was announced that the DOJ had appointed a U.S. attorney in Illinois to evaluate the records to establish their contents and explore further measures. Trump had selected this U.S. attorney. While in Mexico, Biden had twice brushed off reporters’ shouted queries.
