Lila Rose, the founder of Live Action and a prominent pro-life leader, urged Americans to trust their conscience when voting for the president in 2024. She argued that former President Donald Trump was backsliding on pro-life issues, despite his role in the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Nearly a year ago, the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturned Roe v. Wade, ending almost five decades of legalized abortion in the United States. According to Rose, influential voices within the pro-life movement are now advocating for complete and equal protection for unborn children.

Rose expressed optimism about the future of the pro-life movement, citing the significant progress made over the past year. She mentioned that 360 pro-life bills were filed in state legislatures and that there was a significant reduction in the number of abortions post-Dobbs, even in places like California.

While acknowledging the monumental impact of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Rose emphasized that the pro-life movement still has work to do. She urged activists not to limit themselves based on what opponents or the media deem politically feasible. Instead, she stressed the importance of being bold and aggressive in pursuing complete legal protection for the unborn without compromising.

Rose drew attention to her public disagreement with Trump when he referred to the human right to life as a “state-level” issue. She deemed Trump’s comments disqualifying, despite acknowledging that he surrounded himself with strong pro-life leaders and appointed three Supreme Court justices who played a crucial role in the Dobbs decision.

In response to Rose’s comments, a spokesperson for Trump highlighted the former president’s pro-life record, including the appointment of pro-life judges and justices and the reinstatement of policies protecting the unborn. The spokesperson contrasted this with President Joe Biden’s support for abortion on demand and the use of taxpayer funds for abortion.

While recognizing Trump’s contributions to the pro-life cause, Rose asserted that he has backpedaled on pro-life issues and criticized blind loyalty to Trump among some die-hard supporters. She emphasized the need for a comprehensive evaluation of candidates beyond their stance on Roe v. Wade and urged individuals to vote their conscience.

Rose expressed frustration with the media’s pro-abortion bias and urged people not to rely on them for accurate information. She remained focused on the future of the pro-life movement, highlighting the North Star of achieving complete legal protection for the pre-born as promised by the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

In conclusion, Rose expressed excitement and confidence that the pro-life movement will ultimately achieve its mission of complete legal protection for the unborn.
