Federal prosecutors in Washington recently interviewed James Comey in preparation for his testimony against Andrew McCabe for perjury.
The DOJ IG Michael Horowitz referred criminal charges against McCabe for lying multiple times under oath. He testified that he told Comey that he was about to leak a story to the press, a charge which Comey has denied. My guess is they both have a plethora of information on possible crimes each has committed and they have to be careful about going too far with one another. But if one looks like they will get sentenced to a long prison stretch they might flip. McCabe more than Comey because he wants to protect his pension.
Inspector General Michael Horowitz released a scathing report on former Deputy Director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe in mid-April.
Horowitz accused McCabe of lying several times, including under oath; a criminal referral was subsequently sent to the DC US Attorney’s office regarding McCabe.
The Washington Post reported:
Investigators from the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office recently interviewed former FBI director James B. Comey as part of a probe into whether his deputy, Andrew McCabe, broke the law by lying to federal agents — an indication the office is seriously considering whether McCabe should be charged with a crime, a person familiar with the matter said.
James Comey threw McCabe under the bus recently in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper.
Comey told Tapper he could be a potential witness against McCabe.
When asked if he could be a witness, Comey responded, “Sure, given that the IG’s report reflects interactions that Andy McCabe had with me and other senior executives, I could well be a witness.”
McCabe was reportedly “upset and disappointed” over comments being made about him by Comey.
Comey isn’t a reliable witness being that he himself is a liar and a leaker.
Things are getting real interesting, real fast and I have heard that the reason the DOJ and the FBI are withholding documents is that they would prove Russian collusion is a hoax, but I wouldn’t count on that until it’s official due to the vast amount of false information that has been leaked
