Demonstrations broke out in Minneapolis following a shooting incident connected to an ICE enforcement action, with several protesters burning flags and confronting law enforcement as tensions escalated in the city.

The unrest began after a woman was shot during an immigration enforcement operation involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. News of the incident triggered public outrage among community members and activists, leading to spontaneous gatherings near the site of the original enforcement action.

As crowds grew, some participants burned flags and chanted protest slogans, expressing anger over federal immigration enforcement and public safety concerns. Demonstrators also called for accountability from local and federal officials, demanding transparency about what led to the shooting and criticizing perceived overreach by ICE.

Police and National Guard units were deployed to maintain order, establish perimeters, and prevent clashes between demonstrators and bystanders. While much of the protest remained peaceful, the symbolic act of flag burning drew attention and heightened emotions among both supporters of the demonstrations and opponents who condemned the conduct.

City leaders and law enforcement officials urged calm and stressed that they were investigating the circumstances of the shooting. They also called for respect for public safety and lawful protest, even as they acknowledged the community’s desire for answers.

The event underscored deep divisions over immigration enforcement and sparked broader discussions about federal presence in local policing activities. As night fell, authorities continued to monitor the situation, balancing crowd control with efforts to de-escalate tensions and ensure that demonstrations did not spiral into violence.
