CBS has officially canceled The Equalizer, the action-packed crime drama led by Queen Latifah, just ahead of its Season 5 finale, signaling the end of the modern reboot’s five-season run.
Queen Latifah, who played former CIA operative Robyn McCall and also served as an executive producer, responded to the news with gratitude. She thanked fans, cast, and crew for their dedication and said the journey had been an honor from beginning to end. Her message also hinted at new projects ahead, promising audiences they haven’t seen the last of her.
Despite a strong start and industry recognition—including her recent NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress—the series experienced a dip in ratings, falling below 6 million weekly viewers during its final season.
The final episode, titled “Decisions,” will air Sunday, May 4, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, wrapping up the story of McCall’s vigilante mission to protect those in need.
The cancellation comes as part of a larger programming shift at CBS, which also includes the recent end of other high-profile shows like S.W.A.T. and FBI: Most Wanted.
Fans can tune in to the finale on CBS or stream it via Paramount+, marking the closing chapter for one of network television’s few female-led action dramas.
