House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, has made a direct call to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), urging them to release all documents and correspondence involving then-Vice President Joe Biden’s use of aliases like “Robert Peters,” “Robin Ware,” and “JRB Ware.” This demand by Comer is centered on accessing records connected to Biden’s official responsibilities that intersected with his son’s activities in Ukraine.
In a detailed letter directed to NARA, Comer highlighted the pseudonyms and requested full access to communications and documents linked to then-Vice President Joe Biden, particularly those concerning his son’s engagements in Ukraine. According to Comer, the committee has already seen an email that contained an attachment indicating the vice president’s schedule, which suggested a phone call with then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. This email was dispatched to an individual identified as “Robert L. Peters,” with Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son, also included in the email’s recipients.
During the tenure of the Obama administration, Joe Biden was the designated foreign policy lead for Ukraine. The argument put forth by the House Oversight Committee is that in 2015, Biden wielded his influence to pressure Ukraine’s president to dismiss prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was overseeing investigations into Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company.
Hunter Biden, in exchange for a seat on Burisma’s board, received a hefty monthly sum of $83,000, which was seen as a move to capitalize on the Biden family name.
In a subsequent event in 2018, Joe Biden publicly took credit for Shokin’s removal, which he championed during an official visit to Ukraine in 2015. He recounted, “I said, ‘I’m telling you, you’re not getting the billion dollars.’ … ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’ Well, son of a b*tch. He got fired.”
Comer recently issued a direct request to NARA for unedited materials specifically involving Joe Biden’s use of aliases related to his interactions with Ukraine. He highlighted an email titled “Email Messages To and/or From Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden related to Burisma and Ukraine,” sent to “Robert L. Peters,” a pseudonym attributed to Joe Biden.
Expressing his apprehensions about the connections between Joe Biden and his son’s associates, Comer stated, “Access was wide open for his family’s manipulation of influence.” He stressed the importance of NARA providing unrestricted records to assist in an inquiry into perceived improprieties within the Biden family.
