After news spread that South Dakota’s health department had partnered with a transgender advocacy group participating in a “gender summit” next month, Republican governor Kristi Noem announced the resignation of her state health secretary this week. Sources say Noem was clueless about the health division’s collaboration with the group.
The Daily Signal reports that Noem announced that Joan Adam would leave her position as state health secretary on Monday. Notably absent from Noem’s announcement on Adam’s retirement was any mention of the issue surrounding the transgender advocacy group.
Noem remarked in a news release, “Joan has lived a life of service to the town of Pierre and the people of South Dakota.” That she values her family so profoundly has helped her prioritize other people. I am eternally thankful for the guidance she has given me, and I wish her the best.
After the contract with the transgender advocacy group, The Transformation Project was revealed last week, Noem’s office said she would evaluate all agreements under the state’s Department of Health.
On Friday, Ian Fury, Noem’s head of communications, told The Signal, “Gov. Kristi Noem is evaluating all Department of Health contracts and promptly canceled a contract with The Transformation Project.” Noem’s knowledge or consent was required to sign the deal, as pointed out by Fury. Furthermore, the company allegedly needed to follow the terms of the agreement.
Noem told the publication that South Dakota does not back the group’s activities and that the state government should not be involved in them. We must not allow extremist beliefs to drive a wedge amongst our young people. Everyone deserves the same respect and consideration as a fellow human being.
Concerned Women for America’s South Dakota state director Linda Schauer told The Daily Signal that after hearing of Adam’s departure, she is relieved that Noem is “cleaning house.”
There will reportedly be a third annual Midwest Gender Identity Summit in South Dakota next month. Participating at the conference was The Transformation project, a group dedicated to “helping and empowering transgender adolescents.” Among the subjects expected to be discussed at the summit is how to obtain “gender-affirming” care, which may involve drastic measures such as hormone therapy or surgery.
Recent research analyzed by Daily Mail discovered this month that the amount of “top operations” performed on young girls at a California health system increased “13-fold” over the previous decade, as reported by Townhall this month. Top surgery, often known as a double mastectomy, is an operation performed on biological females who are making the transition to male gender identity (via Daily Mail):
Between 2013 and 2020, the data indicated that youngsters as young as 12 were given permanent surgical procedures. In that period, the rate at which minors underwent mastectomies increased from 3.7 per 100,000 people-years to 47.7 per 100,000.
In addition, Townhall reported last month that de-transitioner Chloe Cole, now 18 years old, plans to sue the doctors and nurses who operated on her double mastectomy when she was too young to consent.
Cole added in her lawsuit announcement, “My adolescent life has been the culmination of tremendous agony, sorrow, and, most importantly, injustice.” No amount of money can ever make up for what I’ve lost, but I will make sure no child ever has to go through what I went through. I plan to file a lawsuit against these scumbags.
Even though she is currently de-transitioning, Cole has spoken publicly many times about her experiences with so-called “gender-affirming” therapies. When she was 16, she realized she’d made a mistake by having a double mastectomy when she was 15. According to Catholic News Agency, she is still experiencing problems following the operation.
