Rep Matt Gaetz says that he is filing charges against Nancy Pelosi for tearing up her copy of the SOTU speech. Pelosi claimed she tore it up because it was filled with lies. However, voters don’t agree with her. A recent poll on the SOTU speech and Republicans approved by 84% and the all important Independent voters approved of the speech by 72%. Even Democrats approved at 40%.
What Pelosi did was destroy a federal record, which is a crime punishable by prison, fines or both.
Gaetz said:
“Tomorrow I will be filing charges against Nancy Pelosi in the House Ethics Committee.”
“She disgraced the House of Representatives, she embarrassed our country and she destroyed official records.”
“The law does not allow the Speaker of the House to destroy the records of the House and the rules of the House do not permit some little temper tantrum just because you don’t like what the president of the United States says.”
VP Mike Pence said that when he saw Pelosi ripping something up but he didn’t know if she was tearing up the speech or the Constitution. Liberal law professor Jonathan Turley went even further. He says that Pelosi should immediately resign from the House. Push back has been quick and she cannot justify her position based on the fact that President Trump as liar isn’t working because people see the economy is great and we are rewriting trade deals to make them fairer and the massive drop in crossings of the border by illegal aliens.
“We ought to apply the same standards to the Democrats that they want to apply to us and there will be an ethics investigation into Nancy Pelosi and we will start the ball rolling to have her censured. And the first act begins tomorrow when [Republican New York] Congressman Zeldin and I will join Kay Granger in a censure resolution and we will force a vote on that resolution,” Gaetz told Ingraham. Zeldin added, “She should be censured. It was a disgrace, it was an embarrassment. Basically from the inside out, Nancy Pelosi has been poisoned. She is now poisoning the House of Representatives and Congress and our country.” The congressman suggested that Pelosi is now under the control of “the far left, which has basically taken over the Democratic Party.”
