One Texas lawmaker is proposing banning D.E.I. (diversity, equality, and inclusion) offices on the grounds that they are propagandists for communist political ideology.
House Bill 1006 mandates that all schools in the Lone Star State “maintain political, social, and cultural neutrality” and “encourage a diversity of opinions.” Carl Tepper, a Republican from California, was the first to introduce this legislation in the House.
Offices that “encourage, promote, sponsor, or support any office of diversity, equity, or inclusion” are banned at schools that receive federal funding. The institution must “create disciplinary punishments for students, student organizations, or instructors that disproportionately interfere with the expressive activities of others on campus” to ensure that student groups and educators can host speakers without interference.
To force a person, company, or government entity to comply with the requirements of a law, a court can issue an injunction. When filing a lawsuit against a company or government agency, the plaintiff may ask that the CEO’s discretionary funds be used to pay for the settlement.
Christopher Rufo, an advocate for educational equity, is one of many who oppose the bill because of the influence of Critical Race Theory on educational practice and policy.
According to Rufo, D.E.I. programs “have become offices of racialist ideology, speech control, and political indoctrination” (Emphasis Original) and should get no financing from the government.
” This is why, as he puts it, “a series of announcements should be made early next year regarding a countrywide push to abolish D.E.I. offices and overhaul higher education from the bottom up.”
So that we might recruit “the greatest policy brains in the country,” he suggested that we “lay siege” to colleges and institutions.
Starting in the new year, I will be implementing a plan to overhaul the whole university system and do away with D.E.I. offices altogether. We’re going all out to recruit the brightest minds in public policy from America’s colleges and institutions.
In 2021, Rufo will have uncovered the consequences of the diversity movement on the governments of Seattle and San Diego, as well as the nation’s second-largest defense contractor and the United States’ only designer of nuclear weapons.
Dr. Ed Feulner, a former president of the Heritage Foundation, made the following comment on D.E.I. (diversity, equality, and inclusion) initiatives at elite colleges: “In some of the world’s finest universities, woke is everywhere. Even while it’s a worthy objective, we’re concerned that “equity” has come to represent “dumbing down” in the public lexicon.
