Brittney Griner, a WNBA star, told the media last week that she believes it is a “crime” to exclude women who were born female from competing against biological men who pretend they are transgender women. A former NCAA diver, Riley Gaines is now speaking up for the rights of women athletes.
At a press conference for the upcoming Phoenix Mercury basketball season, Griner was asked about transgender athletes competing against natural-born female athletes. Griner expressed her support for the proposal.
To paraphrase Griner, “That’s high on the list of things I’ll fight for and speak out against.” Everybody needs to get some playing time. Everyone should be able to come here and feel comfortable being themselves without fear of being judged by others.
Then, however, she made a more direct accusation.
At one point, she exclaimed, “Honestly, I think it’s wrong to keep someone apart for any reason, and that’s what this bill is trying to stop!”
Now Riley Grimes has addressed Griner’s ludicrous defense of men dressing as women in sports.
The ardent supporter of women’s sports had a great question to capture Griner’s attention.
Since the vast, obvious differences between men and women don’t seem to matter, “Which NBA team would want @brittneygriner?” Gaines tweeted his thoughts. It hurts my heart when strong female athletes have such a poor opinion of themselves.
A deadly sentence, “And if we’re talking about crimes, Brittney…” was her final flourish.
Last but not least, this remark is a direct swipe at Griner, who was found in possession of illicit narcotics in Russia last year and sentenced to eleven years in jail.
She was held in a Russian jail for the better part of 2022 before being traded for the notorious international criminal and arms dealer Viktor “Merchant of Death” Bout.
Gaines is correct in saying that the average height of a male NBA player is well over six feet, whereas the average height of a female NBA player is slightly under six feet. Therefore, despite Griner’s height (6’9), the other women she plays with are not NBA material. And a single NBA player is a better runner and shooter than all of those ladies put together.
