Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, gave a passionate speech in Michigan on Thursday morning. He called on his fellow Republicans to get rid of a “culture of losing” that he says has grown in the party over the past few years.
DeSantis said these things at the yearly Midland County Republican Party Dave Camp Spring Breakfast at the Great Hall Banquet Center in Midland. There were more than 600 people there.
DeSantis says that the only fair result is a win. I’m seeing that Republican people all over the country are getting used to losing.
The governor pointed to the recent midterm elections and the election of a leftist to a key post on the Wisconsin Supreme Court as examples of Republicans not taking elections seriously enough.
“In Florida,” DeSantis said, “we have a culture of winning, a culture of getting things done, and a culture of getting things done.” “You also need to have a plan for how to win. It’s not simple. Man, if you stand up for what’s right in this day and age, you’re going to get a lot of flack. True leadership isn’t given, it’s earned.
He said that standing up for what you believe in takes bravery. You know they’ll come after you, whether it’s a governor or a mom who shows up at a school board meeting to say she doesn’t like what’s been going on. You will have to pay some costs. But I personally think that the costs are worth it. Americans of the past have paid a lot more for our rights than we have.
