Tyler Robinson, 22, accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, has been confirmed by officials to have lived with a romantic partner who is undergoing transition from male to female. This person, who shared Robinson’s residence, has been fully cooperating with investigators—providing messages and other materials relevant to the case.
Authorities say Robinson texted this partner in the days surrounding the shooting, including a message of confession. The roommate, who was unaware of the crime beforehand, turned over Discord communications and other evidence cited in charging documents.
In remarks to the press, Utah Governor Spencer Cox reiterated that Robinson himself is not cooperating, but emphasized the partner’s cooperation as significant. Robinson is facing serious charges, including aggravated murder, and the state is investigating possible political or ideological motives behind the killing.
