Roseanne Barr will be returning to television, although she has not announced when or where. She says that since ABC fired her she has gotten numerous offers and unless I miss my guess, whatever it is, it will be much more successful than Roseanne will be without her.
I suspect she was fired for less what she said that the fact her show was putting President Trump in a good light. Remember, this is the same channel that canceled Last Man Standing when it had high ratings. If you remember, just before she was fired ABC said the show would become less political and favorable to Trump and Roseanne said that it would continue. Within a week she was fired.
Barr will incur a massive financial loss after she signed away the rights, for free, to her own program as part of the process of ABC proceeding with a spin-off series. In the interview with Rabbi Schmuley Boteach, Roseanne was philosophical about the decision: “I thought signing off… my own life’s work and asking for nothing in return – I thought that was a penance.” Could you imagine another Hollywood star being this caring about others?
Roseanne noted that she truly isn’t racist, despite what the media has said about her: “It’s really hard to say this, but I didn’t mean what they think I meant. I don’t want to run off and blather on with excuses, but I apologize to anyone who thought, or felt offended and who thought that I meant something that I, in fact, did not mean. It was my own ignorance, and there’s no excuse for that ignorance. I definitely feel remorse… I’m a lot of things, I’m a loud mouth and all that stuff, but I’m not stupid, for God’s sake. I would never have wittingly called any black person…a monkey.”
ABC plans on killing off the Roseanne character on its first show.
