27-year-veteran trooper Edward Anderson arrived at a car accident in Arizona where he was promptly shot twice.
Then, suddenly, the shooter began beating the trooper, savagely… that is, until, a good Samaritan arrived on the scene.
“I don’t know that my trooper would be alive today without his assistance,” said Col. Frank Milstead, director of the Public Safety Department, a local ABC News affiliate reported.
The unidentified citizen, who properly exercised his Second Amendment right, asked the trooper if he needed help — ending the attack with his personal firearm once the officer gave the OK.
Anderson was shot in the shoulder and chest is, thankfully, recovering at a local-area hospital.
A spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Captain Damon Cecil, further stated that it’s “fairly rare” for a citizen to use deadly force to help an officer.
“If he would have tried to stand up, he would have been shot again,” a former medic named Brian Schober, who helped stabilize the officer told the station.
Governor Doug Ducey issued a statement this week saying “everyone who, through their actions in real time, showed our officers exactly what Arizona means when we say: ‘You have our backs, and we will always have yours.’”
Given that the perp had already shot the officer twice, let alone continued to beat him… it proves that the Second Amendment will always have a place in our society.
I would also blame the numerous “social justice movements” for this officer potentially holding back, am I right?
Mistead took to Twitter, saying: “Thanks for the thoughts and prayers this morning for our Trooper that was shot. Looks like he will be okay after some recovery @Arizona_DPS”
Public safety spokesman Bart Graves said that the incident started when the officer responded to a report of shots fired in a rural area off Interstate 10. The trooper came across a vehicle, rolled over, and investigated. Setting flares, the prep decided to strike.
The conversation between that driver and the dispatcher was very businesslike, Captain Damon Cecil said.
“Hello. Officer down, officer down outside Tonopah. Come in, please,” the man says, according to audio archived on Broadcastify, which streams radio communications between emergency responders. “He’s in real bad shape. Please send air support, helicopter, please.”
A GoFundMe was setup to support the Trooper and his family, noting:

Trooper Andersson continues to see 3 different physical therapist, shoulder doctor, plastic doctor and a psychologist. “
